HOW TO ACTUALLY ACTIVATE YOUR CORE: a Pilates & core workshop

  • Nurture 2949 Federal Boulevard Denver, CO, 80211 United States (map)

What if you could do crunches without tiring out in your hip flexors or neck first?

What if you could relieve your chronic back pain on your own?

What if you could do this all by simply breathing?

Hi my name is Annie, owner of arrive Pilates & Wellness and provider here at Nurture. One of my favorite things is showing people how to find their deep core & build strength with ease. I work with people every day just like you - people who are looking to find balance, feel good in their bodies and relieve pain.

Yes, it is possible. No, you are not broken!

I know this stuff works. I suffered from daily low back pain for about 10 years. I was a professional dancer, novice runner and hot yoga junkie who was hyper mobile and constantly throwing my back out. I got so physically stuck that I couldn’t stand up straight and relied on emergency visits to my osteopath for adjustments. It wasn’t until I got my training in stott Pilates, where I learned about the deep core and how to actually use it, that realized I could relieve years of pain through a few simple exercises. I had been doing way “too much” when it came to supporting myself. Education of my deep core changed EVERYTHING.

It wasn’t an overnight shift, it took consistent work and awareness to understand how I was holding my body and moving through space. But once I learned basics and applied a few exercises I felt immediate relief and hope. I had been a chronic over-doer, bracing with my core for everything. This was a protection mechanism but bracing was only increasing the pain and limiting my mobility. I can confidently say that I have zero back pain today. I no longer need intervention or regular visits with doctors or pts, all I need is my daily Pilates & posture practice. I can’t wait to show you how!

In this workshop you will learn:

-how to activate your transverses abdiminis and pelvic floor through simple breathing

-how to mobilize your lumbar spine through deep core and glute strength and stop bracing or holding

-how to find neutral placement of the pelvic and spine, & easy take home tips for you to add in your daily routine and workouts

-an easy 4-step warm up for all of your future warm ups

-how this new core strength & neutral posture impacts your whole body including neck, shoulder, ankle and wrist alignment.

-that feeing good and easeful in your body is possible. You are not stuck. You are not broken.

You will leave this 60-minute workshop with a handful of easy-to-apply tools to add to your movement routine with a deeper awareness & understanding of your core & posture.

Education & knowledge is your power. So many of us are not taught these things until it feels too late. You are not alone! Come join me.

What people are saying

Pilates is hands down my favorite workout that I’ve ever done in life! Besides it being fun and unlike anything else, Annie makes it the best part of my week. She is so good at explaining all the subtleties and her experience and knowledge of the body is evident. What surprised me the most is how much Pilates has helped me to understand my body and improve my other workouts. It’s incredible how much the small movements have strengthened and changed me. Even my chiropractor agrees that it's one of the best things I can do for my body. I can’t say enough great things about Annie, she’s so talented, has a magnetic personality and keeps it light and fun...she loves Pilates and you will too after learning from her!”

“I had my first session with Annie yesterday and it was exceptional! This work is perfect for anyone who is looking to build strength inside and outside and wants to do it from a place of ease! Annie made me feel so supported in her space and her knowledge of the body is really so impressive. Highly recommend!”

“My 1:1 Pilates session with Annie was absolutely wonderful. She taught me how to find the 5 principals of breath work and aligned joint placement so that I could feel it in my body. We built upon this knowledge in my session and incorporated strength building and stretching. My body feels SO good after! I highly recommend Annie to anyone who is looking to deepen their mind-body awareness and build strength + flexibility!”

“Annie has taught me how to feel and move parts of my body that I wasn't aware of before. Time will tell, but I'm pain free and stronger than I was before I started working with her. Looking forward to a great summer of outdoor and physical activity with confidence.”

“My running has never felt so even. I can be more intentional about it & use small cues you have given me. I notice myself being more aware & being able to control my discrepancies & tightness. I used to just fall into my problems because I didn't know what was going on. I notice new muscles working that I've never used before in my life.”
